Policy Specialist, Performance Monitoring and Data Analysis post at UNDP

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is advertising a new analyst position in its New York headquarters which may be of interest to GSS members.

This is a UN staff position open to external applicants, at P4 level (equivalent to an experienced A2/Grade 7), and would be well suited to a GSS statistician with an interest in using results evidence and analytical techniques to strengthen the work of a large development organization, and in making the move from UK Government to the United Nations, and to New York!

UNDP is the largest development agency within the United Nations system, and delivers programmes across nearly 160 countries globally. For the past three years UNDP has monitored the results of all its country programmes through a strong organizational results framework, with assistance from a seconded DFID statistician, and it now wishes to invest in permanent staff capacity to analyze results data to improve its performance and accountability.

The position is advertised as a UN staff position and would be classed as external to the GSS. However it may be suitable for a GSS candidate to negotiate as a secondment or career break from their home department.

Please note that while the initial duration of the post is advertised as 1 year with possibility for extension, this is the standard type of contract for all UNDP staff, and it is generally expected that such contracts will be extended for multiple years; it also entitles the jobholder to apply for other internal positions within UNDP.

The closing date for applications is 24th April.
