Grade 7 Branch Head roles at the Office for National Statistics (3 posts)

Three Grade 7 (branch head) roles are available within Methodology. Methodologists provided specialist skills to improve the rigour and cost effectiveness of statistics; develop innovative solutions to emerging issues; and provide a technical and methodological environment that supports a progressive and professional, statistical service. Successful candidates will be responsible for undertaking research, applying methods and techniques and developing new methodologies and ways of analysing data.

Each post involves managing and developing staff and working closely with professionals in other analytical disciplines. We are seeking self starters who have experience and knowledge in working with data and statistical analysis.

1. Head of Census Coverage Design , Estimation and Adjustment

SEO Specialist – Methodologist (Vacancy reference: 1558283)

HEO Specialist – Assistant Methodologist (Vacancy reference: 1558286

As a statistical methodologist your main role will be to research, develop and implement statistical or analytical solutions to promote the accuracy and quality of ONS outputs.

To report findings and recommendations of research, working with others across ONS to share knowledge and build on expertise.

We are interested to hear from people with a strong statistics background. The minimum requirement is for a 2:1 degree in statistics or with a substantial statistical content.

A postgraduate qualification in such areas is desirable. You will also have excellent computing, problem solving, team working and communication skills.
