If you are studying a numerate degree and interested in pursuing a career in statistics in the data analytical function at the heart of government, apply now for this exciting opportunity to spend your university placement year in one of our departments across the UK.

Vacancies currently exist in:

  • The Office for National Statistics (ONS)

  • Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA)
  • Department for Transport (DfT)

This list is not exhaustive and other government departments may have vacancies.

The work is challenging and diverse as it covers all aspects of life in the UK today and informs the development of social and economic policy.  GSS statistics are produced without political influence, making them a trusted and authoritative source of information.

In the GSS you will use your expertise and develop data science skills to tackle the big issues affecting society, this will contribute to the GSS vision ‘Better Statistics, Better Decisions’.

We are interested to hear from you if you are in your second year of a numerate degree which covers at least 25% formal statistics training along with at least one A Level (or equivalent) in a numerate subject and you are looking for a one-year placement for your third year.
