Come join us in celebrating 50 years of the Government Statistical Service!

This year the GSS conference will be held in Manchester on 2nd and 3rd October. The 2018 Conference webpage is now live and contains all you need to know. Over the coming months we will be updating the webpage with new information as it becomes available. We will also be updating this blog with exciting announcements on our keynote speakers and our parallel sessions.

GSS Conference 2018 Expressions of Interest (Parallel Session Presentations and Posters):

Marking the 50th anniversary of the GSS, this year’s conference is titled ‘Better Statistics, Better Decisions: 50 Years of Excellence’ with a conference theme of ‘Advancement in analytical methodology, supporting transparency and collaboration’.

The parallel session team are hard at work to ensure we have another a successful year for presentations but need your help. We are currently in the process of recruiting presenters from a variety of organisations, both public sector and private sector; and are now asking all statisticians and data scientists across Government departments to submit abstracts for consideration.

This is an exciting opportunity to show off recent statistical development in your department. Have you made improvements to the way data are collected and managed? Have you found new ways of engaging with users of your data? It would be great to hear from you about any developments you are particularly proud of. This is a chance to help spread that expertise and good practise across the GSS.

We are happy to accept abstracts for work that is not yet completed but due to be so before the conference.

In addition to parallel sessions this year we are having a poster presentation exhibition area. We are also looking for abstracts for posters showcasing your work.

Please could all interested submit abstracts for consideration by Monday 30th April 2018 to the 2018 GSS Conference team.
