Food glorious food!
As promised in the first blog post for the GSS Conference 2018, lots of new information and announcements will be made in the run up to the 2nd and 3rd October.
To get the ball rolling, the Venue team recently made a visit to Mercure Manchester Piccadilly, the home of the GSS Conference 2018! The arduous task that faced us once we arrived in Manchester was menu tasting. A day of being plied with fantastic food lay ahead, not a job for the faint-hearted…
In all seriousness, our task was to ensure that the food lived up to the quality that we know all of our delegates will expect. In addition, we wanted to get a firm idea of what options will be available for vegetarians, vegans and those with other dietary requirements.
You won’t be surprised to hear that we polished off every single plate of food and learned a surprising amount about the Venue team’s personal taste preferences (aubergine definitely split the table!). Keeping everyone happy is an impossible task when faced with hundreds of delegates, but we’re confident that we’ve picked a menu that the vast majority will be impressed with and will enjoy.
To keep things simple, we have decided on a set menu for all delegates including a starter, main course and dessert. Those with dietary requirements, including vegetarians and vegans, will be offered an alternate menu that caters to their specific needs. And don’t worry, there’s no lack of quality when it comes to the veggie, etc. options (speaking as one of the defenders of the aubergine dish).
Full speed ahead
In the coming weeks, the whole GSS Conference 2018 committee will be visiting the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly. The Venue team have been massively impressed with the Mercure so far – the layout is great, the rooms are spacious and the staff have been nothing but helpful.
The goal is to make this year’s conference the biggest and best yet, and the Mercure can definitely help us achieve that. Just don’t complain about the dinner, please…
