The Royal Statistical Society (RSS) is pleased to be hosting an online open meeting on the Retail Prices Index (RPI) at 5.30pm on Tuesday 21 July.

This discussion will help determine RSS’s contribution to the consultation that the UK Statistics Authority (UKSA) and HM Treasury (HMT) are currently undertaking on this important subject.

The UKSA-HMT consultation is considering whether to bring the methods used in the Consumer Prices Index including Owner Occupiers’ Housing Costs (CPIH) into the RPI at some point between 2025 and 2030.

Although this meeting is being organised by the RSS, it is also open to non-members and the discussion will cover the statistical elements of the consultation, plus other matters related to inflation statistics.

The event’s confirmed keynote speakers are currently: Jonathan Athow (Deputy National Statistician, Office for National Statistics (ONS)), Jill Leyland (member of the ONS’s Advisory Panel on Consumer Prices) and Tony Cox (Chair of the RPI/CPI User Group).
