The Data Catalogue
What is the Data Catalogue?
The Data Catalogue is a resource designed to improve understanding of data sources. It will ultimately lead to higher quality and consistent analysis and advice across departments. The Data Catalogue was an initiative led by the Department for Exiting the EU. It was primarily focused on analysts working on the future relationship with the EU. Yet, it has wider applicability in improving the way we use data across government.
The Data Catalogue covers over 80 key data sources. For each source the catalogue includes a short document describing the data. This includes key characteristics such as what the data tells us, strengths and limitations and common errors when using the data. The catalogue covers trade, investment, economic indicators, tariffs, labour market, population and mobility. Flow charts have also been produced for key themes. The flowcharts set out how relevant data sources relate to each other. They provide users with signposting on suggested data sources to use in different scenarios.
The Data Catalogue is being hosted by the Department for International Trade (DIT).
How to access the Data Catalogue

This is not a finished product but a resource that will be updated and developed over time. If your department is not listed then please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
