Civil Service competency framework assessment tools

The Civil Service competency framework is the core competency framework that sets out the required behaviours all civil servants need to demonstrate. The framework is used for managing performance, recruitment and promotion.

For statistical roles in the civil service, it is used in conjunction with the Government Statistician Group competency framework.

Assessing yourself

Civil Service Learning have produced a series of tools to help staff to discover their strengths and areas for development, measured against the core competency framework.

The self-assessment tool

The self-assessment tool is described as a simple way to kick-start your development by completing an online assessment to identify your competency strengths and areas for development.

360 feedback tools

The 360 feedback tools use feedback from your manager, people who report to you and your peers to discover your strengths and areas for development, measured against the core competency framework.

Leadership statement 360 feedback tool

The leadership statement 360 feedback tool allows you to request feedback on your performance and behaviours from those you work with. Feedback can then be compared with your self-assessment.

This tool is based on the Civil Service Leadership Statement and gathers feedback under the 4 headings of: inspiring, confident, empowering and delivery.
