The GSS Statistical Capability Team develops and promotes the tools and guidance to empower people to build their capability. We collaborate with other analytical professions in government to create a cadre of analytic staff to blend statistical methods with data science.
We deliver the following:
- Career Development. We are responsible for providing the tools to enable individuals to manage their careers. These include the GSG Competency Framework, the GSS Learning Curriculum, Talent Management, Career and Learning Pathways, and Loan and Secondment opportunities. We also run induction training for Statistical Officers and Data Scientists. Please contact us for more information.
- Committee support. We support the GSS People Committee.
- Statistical Training. We are responsible for providing a range of analytical training, events and courses. For more information see here.
The central recruitment of Statistical Officers and Data Scientists for all government departments is managed by the GSS Recruitment Team. They are also responsible for overseeing the recruitment of Assistant Statisticians (which is managed by Civil Service Resourcing).
