Have your say on our future direction – a message from the National Statistician
In 2020, our current strategy (Better Statistics, Better Decisions) will come to an end and will be replaced by a new strategy that sets out where we want to go over the next five years.
I’ve said on a number of occasions it is vital this strategy is not created in a dark room somewhere and then unveiled to the nation.
That is why we are launching a consultation to gather your views on what our new strategy should focus on.
Over the next few weeks, whether you’re based in Wales or Westminster, whether you’ve been working in the GSS for 30 days or 30 years, we want to hear from you.
The diversity we have across the statistical community is a great strength and we want to make sure that our new strategy truly represents that. This is why your views will be vital for shaping this direction to help us continue the work to create the best statistical system in the world.
We can only develop a truly inclusive and representative strategy if you have your say, so I encourage you to take part in this short survey so we can gather your thoughts. The questions cover our strategic direction, how we work with others, the regulation of the use of statistics, and importantly, how we create the best working environment that helps to achieve all this and allows us to develop our careers.
Sir Ian Diamond, National Statistician
