Updated guidance on data visualisation

Today the Government Statistical Service (GSS) Good Practice Team have published their updated guidance Introduction to data visualisation. This guidance replaces the original 2017 document Designing effective tables, graphs and maps and contains key principles to consider when presenting statistical data.

This guidance is intended for producers of official statistics who need to design data visualisations that are informative, consistent and easy to understand. It explores principles and approaches for presenting statistics effectively and also looks at the use of colour and accessibility.

Please take some time to familiarise yourself with the guidance and share with your colleagues as appropriate.

Separate guidance on infographics, dashboards and maps will be published soon.
