Higher Analytical Officer

Higher Analytical Officers within Ofsted are the powerhouse of Data and Insight. They take responsibility for a wide variety of products and outputs, including analysis and dissemination of findings. There are Higher Analytical Officer roles in most teams within Data and Insight and individuals may move between teams according to business need. Although the skills are common across the roles, the exact responsibilities vary according to the work of each team.

Higher Analytical Officers may contribute to the development and production of datasets that inspectors use during their inspections; assist in deciding which providers should be inspected; forecast the impact of future policy changes; or analyse the outcomes of inspections. They may contribute to the production of published data and analysis about their remit area, such as for Ofsted’s Annual Report, official statistics or surveys on topical issues. As well as standard outputs they draft responses to ad-hoc requests for analysis.
