Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. We inspect and regulate services that care for children and young people, and services providing education and skills for learners of all ages.

Higher Analytical Officers are the powerhouse of Data and Insight. They take responsibility for a wide variety of products and outputs, including analysis and dissemination of findings. Although these skills are common across the roles, the exact responsibilities vary according to the work of each team.

Higher Analytical Officers usually specialise in one remit area. This could be schools, further education and skills, early years, or social care. They:

  • develop expertise in the data for their remit area
  • develop the technical skills to extract, quality assure and analyse data appropriately
  • develop an understanding of the policy context
  • produce high quality outputs

In some roles you will need to be proficient in SQL, R, Python. Advanced Excel skills may also be needed.

  • Higher Analytical Officer – Social Care Data and Analysis Team (3 posts), (Bristol or Manchester)
  • Higher Analytical Officer – Early Years and Independent Schools Analysis Team (1 post), (Bristol)
  • Higher Analytical Officer – Social Care Inspection Insight Team (1 post), (Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham, York or Cambridge) – this role is temporary until June 2022, this may be extended
