Defence Statistics provide a range of statistical and analytical services in the Ministry of Defence (MOD). The areas covered include military and civilian personnel, health of the Armed Forces, surveys of MOD personnel, and all National Statistics on Defence. Information is provided to Ministers, the senior Chain of Command and policy-making bodies in the MOD, Parliament, the Armed Forces Pay Review Body, Cabinet Office, the Office for National Statistics and the public.
There are a range of jobs to work on statistics and cost and personnel modelling required to support MOD planning and policy development. These are interesting roles that sit in the Personnel Statistics & Analysis (PSA) team within Defence Statistics, which forms a part of the Ministry of Defence Head Office and Corporate Services.
They are instrumental in providing personnel, pay/cost forecasting, statistics and analysis to MOD in order to inform their planning and policy making process.
These roles involve:
- Running models to produce forecasts and scenarios, and working with policy areas to ensure appropriate application and interpretation; and
- Working proactively with customers to identify suitable analysis to inform stakeholder requirements and selecting appropriate analytical methods. This may be in response to commissions from the MOD head office or Navy/Army/RAF.
