COVID-19 Social care & mortality analyst
- Work with Care Inspectorate Wales and Public Health Wales to assess the quality and coherence of data sources on social care and provide advice on their use
- Provide analysis on the impact of COVID-19 on social care in Wales, with a focus on care homes to support modelling and policy development

We are looking for a motivated statistician or (quantitative) social researcher to undertake this role on either loan or secondment until 31 March 2021 (length negotiable up to a point).
Major public services affected by the pandemic, in particular public health services and education, are devolved matters. This is a unique opportunity to be at the heart of Welsh Government whilst it leads Wales out of the COVID-19 crisis. You will play a crucial role in informing policy development whilst supporting Ministers in the recovery and emergency response to the pandemic and will gain insight into the workings of a devolved administration.
This lateral loan/secondment is open to Government Statistician Group members as well as other analysts working within the wider Government Statistical Service (e.g. other members of the ONS RAS group, GORS members, quantitative GSR members, ex-data analytics apprentices, “non-badged” statisticians with relevant experience such as those in arm’s-length bodies). It is also open to statisticians eligible to undertake a secondment e.g. those in academia or the wider public sector.
