Homelessness Case Level Collection (H-CLIC) updates

This webpage will be used to keep users up to date with all the latest latest information related to Statutory Homelessness Statistics collected and published by Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. Information and details of key work-streams will be posted here.

More detailed information on how our statistics are used, our user engagement strategy, and improvements to our statistics will be published in a new dedicated  “Statutory Homelessness Statistics- Use, Improvements, and User Engagement Note”. This will be published alongside each of our statistics releases from October 2023, available from our GOV.UK pages.

Note on accessibility

We are working on putting all our documents into an accessible online format. While we do so we have had to remove these documents from this webpage. All documents can still be obtained by emailing HomelessnessStats@levellingup.gov.uk.

Documentation and guidance

Many of our latest documents and guidance are available immediately if you email HomelessnessStats@levellingup.gov.uk. Send us an email with the subject “Request for documentation links – No reply needed”. Our mailbox automatic response should immediately provide you with links to our latest guidance documents.

You can access the H-CLIC Data specification in this way. This data specification contains the core questions to be used in the monitoring of statutory homelessness by local authorities in England following commencement of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. It includes information about the acceptable methods and media for sending the data, the overall format of the data file, and rules governing when to send data. Definitions and format validation checks on each variable are also provided.

Personal data

A select group of local housing authorities are involved in a pilot project providing personal data to DLUHC, in addition to their usual H-CLIC data to facilitate data linking. You can ask for more information about this pilot project by emailing HomelessnessPersonalData@levellingup.gov.uk.
