Titchfield City Group on Ageing

Background

On 9 March 2018, during its 49th session, the United Nations Statistical Commission endorsed the proposal to establish a Titchfield City Group on Ageing and Age-disaggregated data.

Useful background information from the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs explains the journey to the first meeting.

The seminar was hosted by the Office for National Statistics.

The global pledge ‘to leave no one behind’ of the 2030 Agenda has given the world an unparalleled opportunity to promote inclusion of older people and ageing in the international and national development agenda.

The policy priorities and challenges for the proposed United Nations (UN) ‘Titchfield City Group on Ageing’, to be considered for formal establishment by the UN Statistical Commission in March 2018, were identified during a three-day scoping workshop, at Winchester University on  22 to 24 August 2017. The seminar was hosted by the Office for National Statistics.
